Junior formal dresses

Today we're all about dresses. Junior formal dresses, to be precise, for the winter parties ahead of us.
Now is the best time to get these dresses. The selection is huge and so is the price range. Next time you can find them will probably be only in June.
We visited several department stores in our neighborhood in Stanford Shopping Center, and picked several to present here.

The little black dress

One thing every woman should definitely have in her closet is a little black dress.
I'm on a continuous pursuit for a little black dress and I always have at least one that is fashionably updated and good for any occasion.
The one I'll always have is sleeveless - for the summer of course, but I can also wear it during the other seasons with a wrap (more about wraps will follow soon). Well, if you can afford it and if you find the perfect dresses, we recommend having at least two dresses - a sleeveless one and a long sleeved one.
On our last visit to Banana Republic we found this perfect little black dress that also looks a little bit different.

Sale! Sale! Sale!

It's the end of summer, at least sale-wise. Most stores carry tons of "sale" items and it's absolutely a sin not to take advantage of the great prices.
We always try to do most of the shopping during the "sale" periods - this way we can both pamper ourselves with new and updated items and also save some big bucks.
Especially since the sales usually start long before the season is actually over and we can still enjoy the new items.
Well, we'll do our best to update you about our finds.

A touch of VELVET

We first noticed VELVET's T's and dresses at Leaf & Petal boutique on California Ave. in Palo alto.
Their soft fabric and contemporary designed items caught our attention and piqued our curiosity to look for more of that good stuff.
Well, the good news is that VELVET is sold in hip upscale boutiques around the bay area.

New, Free People store

Check this out - there's a new Free People store in Stanford Shopping Center.
As usual, their stuff is very "sixties".
There are lots of printed fabrics. Lots of light summer dresses and camis. Most of them are not cheap, but they definitely have character and will enhance your appearance.

Browsing for new summer dresses is a fun habit for us, loving to wear them later in the hot summer days.
This time we decided to check what's new in the dress department at Nordstrom. Like always, we weren't disappointed - we found so many wonderful dresses that it was hard to choose.

Yet another cool summer dress

You already know how much we like summer dresses.
Well, we have just come across this light knit dress, the Gored racerback dress - $54 at the Gap.
It's a casual dress, made of a Tencel® and cotton blend and it has the softest feel. It doesn't work when a fancy outfit is required, but will definitely work for a casual summer morning.
It comes in several solid colors, of which I picked the black - it will serve me the best, but all are very nice.

The big heat last weekend drove us out of the house and into the stores. Our mission was to find us a couple of sun dresses for the coming summer. We checked around a little bit - look what we came up with... a couple of nice dresses at Anthropologie.

A fancy party apparel

One of our girlfriends just hosted a big and fancy family party. There were many preparations - hiring a caterer and a florist, choosing the right music, sending out the invitations, etc. Finally, only one huge question was left open - what was she going to wear??? And, as we all know, girls - this is what the party is all about, right...?
