A piece of art that also happens to be a necklace

I've just recently had my birthday and received several wonderful gifts. There's one that I want to show you this time.
It's a necklace bought at the SFMoma store, which usually carries wonderful jewelry and other gift options. Even before I opened the gift box I knew it was an unusual piece.
This is a piece of jewelry of the Francesca Amfitheatrof line.
The SFMoma store describes it this way:
"The idea for this uniquely designed jewelry was born out of Francesca Amfitheatrof's desire to challenge the notion of jewelry and develop new techniques. (more) "
I received the 18K Vermeil Sausage Necklace. It's long and very delicate but also very flexible. You can put it several times around your neck, which makes it look surprisingly both casual and very fancy at the same time. I've already had several opportunities to wear it, and as you can imagine - it always attracts lots of attention....
It's not a casual gift, it's something you buy for someone you love, someone you really want to spoil.... sometimes this "someone" can even be yourself.....
